Client: Toneelgroep Amsterdam + Toneelschuur Haarlem (2007-2009)
The campaign identity for TA-2: a platform by Toneelgroep Amsterdam for developing theatre directing talent. A series of decorative picture frames, composed of intricate visual metaphors, allude to the different themes of the plays.

For the first production ‘Britannicus’ (by the French dramatist Jean Racine), we created a frame composed of the iconography of military strength to contemporise the theme of the abuse of absolute power. Similarly, the symbols in the poster for ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ suggest the theme of the conflict between reality and fantasy, and of an unfulfilled love.

The TA-2 poster series was nominated in the prestigious Dutch Theatre Poster Prize 2008 (Theater Affiche Prijs).

To stretch the creative concept and generate extra publicity, we invited several different designers/artists to visually interpret the plays. All artworks were executed on posters without the type details, and then reproduced in the programme booklets. More information here:
