Van IJ tot Zee

Client: KCNH - Kunst en Cultuur Noord-Holland (2002)
Campaign identity and wayfinding for Van IJ tot Zee, an open air art exhibition hosted along the route of the North Sea Canal (a waterway linking Amsterdam to the North Sea), on the occasion of the canal’s 125th anniversary.

The use of shipping containers not only enhanced visibility of the festival along the art route - but they acted as perfect visual metaphors for trade along the canal, and, on a practical level, were employed as storage units for some exhibits.

Van IJ tot Zee was shortlisted at the Dutch Design Awards (NederlandseDesignPrijzen) 2003.
